Neighborhood-2-Go

The Center for Urban Transportation Research (CUTR) at the University of South Florida is conducting a research project (eIRB# 19644) named Neighborhood2Go, and your household is invited to participate. The purpose of this project is to encourage Temple Terrace residents to increase walking and biking, increase use of transit, reduce traffic congestion, and create a more healthy and livable community.

Upon consenting to participate, each member of your household with an active driver license will be given a cell phone with an embedded global positioning system (GPS) for the project period. The duration of your household’s participation will be up to two months. The application that runs on the cell phone to collect data is nick-named TRAC-IT. The system will record trip start and end locations, route, travel time, date/time of day, and travel distance for each trip. Trips may be made by private vehicle, carsharing vehicle, bus, bike, walk or other mode. We will send each member of your household an email showing each of their trips to allow them to verify the accuracy of the recorded trip and reply with any changes or additions.

Compensation for participation in this project will be in the form of VISA, MasterCard, or American Express gift cards in increments of $5.00. The payment structure is as follows:

  • $5 gift card for each week of participation in the program for each participating household member
  • A $5 bonus gift card will be given to each household member for participating in the program for 1 month*

*A month is constituted by a minimum of 4 days each week of carrying the phone and transmitting data. If the phone is carried for less than 4 days each week, no payment will be issued.

Upon your consent, a member of the Neighborhood2Go team will spend about one hour showing your household how to use the TRAC-IT application and answering all of your questions. You have our promise that your privacy will be protected and that none of the information will be used for any other purpose or provided to any other agency or business.

If you live in Temple Terrace and would like to participate in the Neighborhood2Go project, please complete the pre-program questionnaire.
