2018 Florida Commuter Transportation Summit

The 2018 Florida Commuter Transportation Summit, sponsored by the Florida Department of Transportation, and hosted by the Center for Urban Transportation Research will be held in Tallahassee, Florida on May 8 and 9, 2018.

Complete Streets Workshop
May 7, 2018, 1pm-4:30pm

Join FDOT’s Complete Streets Program Manager DeWayne Carver for a walkabout tour of Gaines Street to experience “Complete Streets” in real time.   Following the walkabout, retreat to an air-conditioned classroom to learn about FDOT’s Complete Streets program and the roles Commuter Assistance Programs, FDOT Districts, and local partners can play in this important effort.

DeWayne served as the Executive Director of the Capital City Transportation Management Association and later Commuter Services of North Florida from 1993 to 2002.  His post-CAP experience included planning and designing walkable and livable communities in the private sector, before joining FDOT in 2013 to help create the Complete Streets Program. DeWayne recognizes the commuter assistance program’s special connections between local government, FDOT, and the general public.  This workshop recognizes the unique opportunity of CAP’s to tie all these aspects together in support of stronger Florida communities.
