Reduce Your Cost of Commuting
With rising gasoline prices, more commuters are looking for help forming a carpool, starting a vanpool, riding transit, bicycling to work, or teleworking.  With funding from the Florida Department of Transportation, Florida residents have access to many commuter assistance programs and transit agencies who are willing to provide free assistance in helping commuters find the best travel option to meet your needs.

Worried about being stranded if your carpool partner needs to leave work early unexpectedly?

Most of the agencies have an Emergency Ride Home program that covers most of the cost of a taxi ride home (under certain conditions). Check with the commuter services program in your community.

Click here to find the agency in your community who can help you form a carpool or a bus route

State employees in the Tallahassee area who were referred by DMS to visit this site (www.commuterservices.com) to find carpool information actually should go to www.commuterservices.org (Commuter Services of North Florida) for assistance.

TDM Business Benefits Calculator
A user-friendly, online Business Benefits Calculator developed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as part of the Best Workplaces for Commuters program helps employers estimate the financial, environmental, traffic, parking, and other benefits of implementing a joining the program. Best Workplaces for Commuters is now managed by the Center for Urban Transportation Research at the University of South Florida. To use the calculator, employers simply enter information describing the elements of their commuter assistance program and the calculator quickly estimates cost savings as well as reductions in traffic congestion, energy demand, and air pollution.
