  Transit Service Options

Audience: This course is targeted to transportation professionals who seek a basic introduction into understanding transit planning and operations.

 

Description: This module provides an overview of transit service options from the identification of general characteristics of a transit trip through the identification of service design components.  Learn more about planning for bus rapid transit, shuttle services, and transit services for special events.

 

Objectives:  After this module, participants should be able to:

  • Identify general characteristics of a transit trip

  • Describe types of public transportation

  • Identify service design components

  • Provide overview of performance measures used by transit systems

  • Examine three specific applications: Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), Shuttle Bus Services, and Special Events Service Planning
